Press Release

Within the scope of the Revolutionary Victory Campaign ongoing in Serhat region, our guerrilla forces carried out comprehensive action against the occupying Turkish army. In the actions, which took place as part of the 1 June Leap, the Turkish army suffered heavy losses. The details of the actions are as follows:

On June 1, at 9.30, our forces carried out a Revolutionary Operation against the occupying Turkish army in the rural area of Iğdır province. A ZPT (Armored Personnel Carrier) type and 2 Panzer type armored vehicle, which are moving from Aralık district to Iğdır center, was targeted by our forces. The ZPT-type armored vehicle was completely destroyed while a Panzer-type armored vehicle heavily damaged. The enemy soldiers who tried to get out of the vehicle were effectively hit by our forces and all the soldiers who were trying to get out were killed.

Following the action, the troops of the occupying Turkish army, which tried to intervene in the scene with a large number of armored vehicles, were hit from 2 separate sides. As a result of effective hits, a Kirpi-type armored vehicle was destroyed, while an Amarog and a Reo type military vehicles damaged. Our forces, which took control of the area for a long time, have left the enemy units completely immobile for a long time. As a result of this revolutionary operation, at least 20 enemy soldiers were killed and more than 10 soldiers were wounded. In the evening hours, the occupying Turkish army bombed the area heavily and carried away dead and wounded soldiers from the area with a large number of armored vehicles and ambulances. This revolutionary operation was organized to salute the June 1 Leap by HPG, YJA-STAR and HBDH forces.

The Turkish army has been constructing a security road between the Serekaniye and Kozili outposts in Agri’s Bazid (Dogubeyazit) district. Our YJA Star forces carried out a sabotage action against a transit vehicle transporting the counter units who work in the construction project on June 1 at 06:00.

The targeted vehicle was destroyed in the action where 6 counter units were killed and 2 were wounded. Following the action, the invading Turkish army removed their casualties from the area and launched an operation in the evening. This operation was rescinded the same day without any results.

The invading Turkish state served this action against the counter units constructing the security road for the outposts as an attack against civilians in their own media channels. The counter units are persons who act and work together with the invaders, and stand against the values of the Kurdish people and with the enemy.

On May 31 at 16:30, our YJA Star forces carried out a sabotage action against the soldiers in the Gulizerke outpost in Van’s Caldiran district. In simultaneous actions, 1 captain and 1 private were killed. The invading Turkish army bombed the area with Howitzers and mortars after the action and launched a partial operation.

We have had no casualties in these actions.

2. Our forces have responded to the invasion operation launched by the invading Turkish state in Xakurke with effective actions. On June 1 at 03:30, an action was carried out against invading Turkish soldiers positioned on the Martyr Derwesh Hill.

The enemy positions were taken under fire from 2 sides and 9 enemy soldiers were killed in this action.

In our statement released on May 30, 2019, we announced that our comrade Rebaz mahabad (Resit Hasan Nejad) had been martyred in an airstrike against the Shexzade region in Xakurke on May 28. Our comrade wasn’t in fact martyred and, following the bombing, has later returned to his base area safe and sound.

 3. On June 1, fighter jets of the invading Turkish army bombed the Cil u Car area in Xakurke in Medya Defense Zones at 06:30, Mervanis area in Avasin at 09:00 and the Zap region at noon. The bombing in the Zap region resulted in the martyrdom of one of our comrades. Our martyr’s identity will be shared with the public later on.
