Press Release

The Turkish army continues its artillery and howitzer strikes against guerrilla positions in the Zap, Xakurkê, Metina, and Garê regions. Additionally, in some areas, banned explosives were used, and airstrikes were conducted by fighter jets against Girê Zengil.

1. Actions by the Turkish Army:

— On May 17, our tunnels in the Şêlazê Resistance Area of ​​the Metîna region were bombed once with banned explosives, and on May 18, the Girê Zengil area of ​​the Garê region was bombed twice by fighter jets.

— Between May 13 and 18, the Girê Amediye Resistance Area of ​​the Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region was bombed twice; and our tunnels in the Şêlazê Resistance Area of ​​the Metîna region were attempted to be demolished three times by the Turkish army using crushers and drilling excavators.

— Between May 14 and 18, the Berê Zînê and Lolan Resistance Areas of the Xakurkê region; the Kanî Sarkê, Girê Kun, Dêreşê, Deşta Kafya, Girê Sîser, Girgaşê, Yekmalê, Girê Zengil, Girê Reşît areas of the Garê region; the Bêşîlî Resistance Area of ​​the Metîna region; the Girê Bahar Resistance Area of ​​the Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region were bombed with artillery and howitzers.

2. The Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla responded to the attacks with techniques within the framework of the right of self-defense. The details of the response given by our forces are as follows;

May 16, 13:30 & 15:17: Targets in offensive positions in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap’s Girê Bahar Resistance Area were struck; one armored vehicle equipped with a Korkut air-defense system was destroyed, and one Kirpi armored vehicle was damaged.

May 16, 13:30: Targets in offensive positions in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap’s Sergelê Resistance Area, that were attempting to demolish our tunnels were struck, and one position was damaged.

May 18, 14:00 & 15:10: Targets in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap’s Girê Amediyê Resistance Area, that were attempting to demolish our tunnels using heavy weapons, artillery, and crushingpenetrating excavators were struck.

3. Regarding the Death of Tahir Aşrun:

On April 29, 2025, near the village of Musê in Maku, respected member of the patriotic Sakî tribe, Tahir Aşrun from Mala Huseyin Bekî, tragically died in an accident. His death, which was unintentional and accidental, is deeply saddening. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his grieving family. We want our people, the patriotic Sakî tribe, and the Aşrun family to know that there is no enmity whatsoever—Tahir Aşrun was not targeted, and this was purely an accident. Once again, we offer our condolences to the Aşrun family and the Mala Huseyin Bekî family.
