Kurdistan People's Defence Forces

No matter how much time passes, history brings itself to life anew and engraves in its heart the names of heroes such as Heqî Karer.

During the period when the enemy was attempting to eradicate the culture, language, and identity of the Kurdish people, the founding of the freedom movement rose like a sun over the Kurdish people. Under the leadership of our great commanders Heqî Karer and Mahsûm Korkmaz, this movement grew still greater and opened a new page for the Kurdish people and the history of Kurdistan.

He Was a Young Hero

The young hero Heqî Karer, also known as Mûstafa Şêxmûs, is one of those heroes. He was born into a patriotic and cultured family in the sacred land, the land of olives, Efrîn. At a young age, he came to know the freedom movement and the thought of Leader Apo, and began his search for the truth. As he grew older, his search also deepened. During the Rojava Revolution, members of his family joined in order to build the ranks of the revolution. Mistefa, too, took his share from this and reached a decision. His joining the ranks of the revolution took place on the basis of advancing the cause of freedom; he took the name of the great commander and pioneer Heqî Karer and became a follower of his cause.

By taking this name, he opened a new door before himself and placed a great duty upon his shoulders. He had to live, act, and fight in keeping with the weight of this name. This became a fundamental point for him. What is courage? Is courage shown only against the enemy? Should a person not also act courageously in knowing oneself, overcoming oneself, and freeing oneself from the traits of the system? For Heqî, these questions became the building of a sound foundation and a march toward success. His stance in life and his heroism enabled him to take great steps. This was in pursuit of building a strong stance and great fighting spirit: the personality of a true Apoist militant.

He Became the Bearer of the March Toward Eternity

From the Kurmênc mountains to the mountains of Serhed, his march and struggle always flowed toward freedom. From his strength and enthusiasm to his final breath, he never made a concession and made the standards of guerrilla life prevail in his own life.

On the night of May 29, 2026, while guerrilla Heqî Karer and several of his comrades were attempting to cross the water at the village of Zêvê, which is attached to the Qelenî district, they entered a fierce clash as a result of an ambush by the Iranian state. Two soldiers of the Iranian state were wounded in this clash, and as a result of betrayal, guerrilla Heqî Karer attained martyrdom. With his courage and self-sacrifice, he continued to step forward with great bravery until the final moment of his life and left memories that will never be forgotten. Martyrdom is not an end; it is the beginning of immortality. Through his martyrdom, guerrilla Heqî also left behind great memories and traces and joined the caravan of martyrs of the cause of freedom.
