Kurdistan People's Defence Forces

Freedom-loving societies have struggled to protect their existence and identity.

At the same time, in order to build a dignified life and a free future for coming generations, they have continuously resisted and fought systems of power, paying heavy prices in the pursuit of a free and dignified life. In the face of policies of annihilation, denial and assimilation carried out by those in power, these resisting societies believed in the unity and fraternity of peoples and understood that only through the unity and solidarity of peoples could they secure their freedom and live with dignity.

This understanding reached its height with the emergence of Leader Apo and his thought and philosophy of freedom. Leader Apo’s ideas and reflections, which embrace all peoples and nations, became a source of struggle and of the creation of a free life for all societies. Thousands of young women and men from different nations believed in Leader Apo’s thought and philosophy and waged war and struggle with a spirit of self-sacrifice for the freedom of peoples until the final moment of their lives.

Mûnzûr Esaf, a worthy and honorable young man of the Arab people, was one of those heroes who believed in the fraternity and unity of the peoples of the Middle East and joined the freedom struggle without hesitation on the basis of Leader Apo’s ideas and thought. He fought heroically until his final breath to achieve the freedom of the peoples of the Middle East.

“With Great Awareness, He Sees the Truth of His Society Within the Freedom Movement.”

Munzur was the son of a respected Arab family. He was originally from the city of Serêkaniyê in Western Kurdistan, but was born in Damascus, the capital of Syria. From childhood he was shaped and raised in the ancient and authentic culture and morality of Arab society. After studying for a time in the schools of the Baath regime, he became aware of the mentality and policies of annihilation and denial that the regime pursued against all the components of Syria, creating division among them. He therefore rejected those policies, left school and began working to support his family economically. Later, he moved to Lebanon for work.

The freedom revolution developing in Western Kurdistan echoed everywhere and affected all freedom-loving personalities. As a worthy young man of the Arab people, Munzur too was influenced by the revolution and, through the Kurds of Lebanon, began researching and searching in order to know it closely. When he realized that the revolution was founded on Leader Apo’s thought and philosophy and took the freedom of all components as its basis, it drew his attention even more. He expanded his search and efforts so that he could take his place within the revolution.

After following it closely and coming to know it better, he realized that the time had come to put his convictions into practice. In particular, when the Turkish state and its affiliated gangs began their attacks on Western Kurdistan in 2019, he decided to return to his homeland and fulfill his historical duties and responsibilities as an Arab youth. On this basis, he turned toward home and took his place as a courageous fighter in the trenches of resistance.

“He Follows in the Footsteps of the Cherished Ones and Turns Toward the Free Mountains”

For a time, Munzur resisted enemy attacks as a courageous fighter. He came to believe more deeply in the ideology of freedom that Leader Apo presented to all peoples and sought, through his comrades, to unite himself with that ideology. After gaining extensive experience, he decided to join the guerrilla ranks so that he could realize his dreams and follow in the footsteps of Aziz and Rojbîn. He turned toward the free mountains of Kurdistan and took the name Şîraz Nemir.

With great enthusiasm and excitement, Guerrilla Şîraz embraced the new life and became one with it. At every moment he sought to deepen himself in the styles and methods of guerrilla life and, within a short time, to become a skilled and strong guerrilla. He joined training to deepen himself further in ideological and military matters. He participated with great eagerness, brought about fundamental mental changes and transformations in his personality, and deepened himself in Leader Apo’s thought and philosophy through discussion. He raised his belief in the Democratic Nation paradigm to the highest level.

After completing his training, Guerrilla Şîraz became an experienced guerrilla prepared for every revolutionary task and duty. Accordingly, he actively headed into fields of practice. As attacks on the Medya Defense Zones intensified, he showed his command great determination and insistence on taking his place in the trenches of resistance, and worked hard for it. Because of his strong and steadfast personality, his proposal was accepted by the command; he then went to the areas where the fighting was heaviest and took his place in the resistance positions.

With the determination to prevail, he joined the resistance beside his comrades and wrote epics of heroism against brutal attacks. With great conviction and the style and methods of modern guerrilla warfare, Guerrilla Şîraz led many actions and dealt heavy blows to the enemy. He joined every action with the spirit of vengeance and, with every blow against the enemy, demonstrated his attachment and loyalty to his martyred comrades.

“With a Spirit of Self-Sacrifice, He Fights Until His Final Breath for the Fraternity of Peoples”

Guerrilla Şîraz was loved among his comrades for his bearing and his sincere, upright character. He became an example to the youth of the Arab people who fight and struggle without hesitation and with a spirit of self-sacrifice for the victory of the unity and fraternity of the peoples of the Middle East. After a long struggle against the occupiers in the free mountains, Guerrilla Şîraz attained martyrdom on September 4, 2024, as a result of an enemy attack.

At every moment of his revolutionary life, Guerrilla Şîraz fought and struggled for the freedom of the peoples of the region. With a spirit of self-sacrifice, he followed the path of the martyrs and became one of the never-to-be-forgotten symbols of the fraternity and solidarity of the peoples of the Middle East.
