Kurdistan People's Defence Forces

If history is lost, what can truly define truth? One can say that history is a willed existence that can be defined. My country, the cry of freedom rises again on the horizons of your mountains.

Once again, the truth of genuine love presents itself through the fire in the hearts of Ronahî and the Bêrîvans. Every trace on the paths of those mountains writes the story of a heroic journey. For a free tomorrow, it has become the will of thousands of years for all the hopes of children. At the same time, for a liberated tomorrow, it has brought forth a new history that will always keep it alive.

In the history of Kurdistan, despite all the attacks of annihilation and genocide against the Kurdish people, the spirit of rebellion that has never bowed before the enemy recalls itself like a living trace. With their resisting young women and men, they have had the years-long history of heroism written by their own hands, like a living spirit that will always live. One of them, the courageous woman Muqedes Yilmaz, too, writes her historical journey towards the mountains against the policy of genocide and annihilation, with a renewed spirit that does not bow before the enemy.

Muqedes Yilmaz is born in the Serhed region, in the city of Mûş, known for its imposing plains. She grows up in a patriotic family with an ancient Kurdish culture. This plays an important part in shaping her personality. Although her self-knowledge is not complete, she knows her history with an understanding that the enemy establishes its own existence through the non-existence of her identity. With this knowledge, as a young woman she becomes the truest response to her search through a conscious stance in all areas of life. Insisting on reaching a free life, she gives valuable labour and effort towards it. Then the difficulties of reaching it are not even a matter for discussion for her. As a heartfelt seeker, without hesitation she keeps searching for a path that will answer all her dreams. As Muqedes comes to know Leader APO and the Freedom Movement, her search for a free life develops further. Each day she feels a greater need to become a true follower of the path of truth herself. Walking towards the mountains is no longer merely a dream for Muqedes. To reach them, she sets herself the goal of a determined march. Accordingly, Muqedes Yilmaz decides to join in 2014 and, under the name Delîla Asmîn, becomes one of the courageous women militants of the Apoist spirit.

Upon coming to the mountains, guerrilla Delîla responds to the difficulties and hardships of guerrilla life with great eagerness and curiosity. On those beautiful peaks of the mountain ranges, she sees how a woman's rebelliousness can be lived meaningfully. She breathes in the scent of freedom and the beauty of the mountains. As though opening her eyes to the world for the first time, she dreams with a different horizon and a living spirit capable of building great hopes for the future. When she enters basic training, she offers great labour and effort to realise this dream. Above all, she makes it her fundamental goal to understand and embody the reality of Leader APO and how the standards of Apoist militancy can take shape. On this basis, she develops within herself the questioning of what the standards of a free woman should be. Her determined stance and desire to become an Apoist militant make her personality still stronger and more courageous.

After successful training, guerrilla Delîla eagerly heads to the field of practice and participates actively. On the basis of the standards Leader APO has set for every militant, she assumes this duty with very great responsibility and at the same time encourages those around her to put it into practice. Her stance and heartfelt comradeship undoubtedly become a source of support for all her comrades. Through this stance, Delîla both gives strength to those around her and opens the way for an even stronger struggle.

To develop further in military matters and guerrilla specialisation, guerrilla Delîla proposes training at a military academy. At her request, she moves to one. There she deepens her understanding of the methods and tactics of modern guerrilla warfare and develops professionally. With the understanding of a spirit of revenge, she offers immense labour and effort to prevent enemy attacks and render them fruitless. To contribute strength to practice, she gains mastery of all weapons. Alongside her expertise in weapons, she also meets her needs for building herself ideologically. Her wish to receive training in

an autonomous academy is fulfilled too. After a period, she moves to the Martyr Bêrîtan Academy.

Within the framework of Leader APO's manifesto and women's militancy, guerrilla Delîla returns to her personality once again and deepens her focus on developing her way of struggle. The purpose of an academy of this kind is especially to return to one's own personality. With this awareness, guerrilla Delîla too becomes the truest response to all her contradictions.

This time, as she moves into practice, Delîla becomes more confident in herself. She begins practical work in an area such as Heftanîn, one of the places that has hosted the guerrillas for years, both in guerrilla life and in carrying out practical work. Living as a guerrilla on its sacred soil and growing in its earth gives historical value to the courageous woman's personality.

With a new awareness and a correct way of struggle, she takes on duties and responsibility in that area. Especially with the enemy's attacks on it, she plays an active role in all the positions of resistance. Thus, without bowing before the enemy, the guerrilla intimidates it by responding through her actions. This self-sacrificing stance of the guerrilla and pioneering woman creates great fear in the enemies' hearts. The battle of Heftanîn and the resistance of the pioneering guerrillas now echo everywhere. The stance of the struggling woman and the leadership shown in the actions clearly reveal the truth of Apoist militancy.

As a woman militant, guerrilla Delîla Asmîn wages war and struggle without pause against the occupation of Kurdistan's soil. On 14 June 2020, in the Bektoriya area of Heftanîn, guerrilla Delîla Asmîn and her two comrades, Baz Amed and Denîz Firat, attain martyrdom as a result of bombardment by the occupying Turkish army.

In her journey of struggle, guerrilla Delîla makes an unceasing historical march with the spirit of the Bêrîtans, which does not bow before the enemy. The young commander's spirit of struggle will live forever in the hearts of Kurdish children.
