TO OUR PEOPLE AND THE PUBLIC
We, as the People’s Defence Forces (HPG), have been taken a decision to be in a position of a non-action since 13th of April, 2009, in accordance of our Leaders’ efforts for a solution. Together with this decision, we have had taken for a non-action period during the local elections and came to an end of a year, which all together nine months of the year 2009 have passed with a non-action position.
Despite our Leaders’ great sacrifices to be able develop a solution period and infinite awareness and adherence to such a period during the past year by our Guerrila Forces, the system of the Republic of Turkey (TC) continued its destructive policies and once more they declared to the public that they are against the democratic solution.
Throughout the year 2009, the military operations have been carried out in order to destroy our guerrillas, our people repetadly went through a cycle of massacre, the witch enhanced applications against the democratic organisation and institutions have been increased, a destruction policy have been followed against the geography and the nature of Kurdistan, and our Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s living conditions have been worsened day by day.
All the games by the international conspirators, which put it into practice the policies of the destruction by the system of the Republic of Turkey (TC) and camouflage all these under the so called democratic opening and etc., have been deciphered by our Leaders’ great sacrifices and practisizing the Apo’s political line by our movement.
During the year 2009, a total of 274 military operations, which 273 military operations by the Turkish Republic and 1 military operation by the Iranian army, have been carried out in order to destroy our guerrillas. As a result of greater awareness of our guerrillas, only 34 clashes occured during these military operations.
Turkish Republic’ Army have carried out 49 air-bombardments and 168 obus bombardments against the Medya Defence Areas and our Northern States. As a result of this attacks many civilian settlements and bridges have been destroyed, thousands of animals have been killed, and thousands square meters of areas have been burnt and the nature destroyed. Again, in many parts of Kurdistan, dozens of civilian have been killed or wounded as a result of the mines laid by the Turkish State Army.
In the clashes througout 2009, the total of 128 enemy forces have been killed and 58 of them wounded by our guerrilla forces. A total of 94 of our friends have reached martry as a result of the attacks carried out by both Turkish state and Iranian Armies.
Our guerrillas have used our right to retaliate in 7 different cases (i.e. in Lice/Amed and Resadiye/Tokat, during the periods where destructive policies increased against our people, Leader, and the guerrillas.
As we left the year 2009 behind, many achievements have been completed, We, as a HPG (The People’s Defence Force), announce that we will not take any other option than the freedom of APO and our people in the year of 2010, and once again we promise as our commitment to our martyrs that we will be continouing to be the guardians of the sacred values.
