Yes, among peoples there are always nameless heroes. Many of them are known, but many others remain nameless and without a trace, only among the pages of history.
When a people searches for its freedom, it is compelled to answer its destiny. For this reason, the nameless heroes are always the supporters of this cause.
When one says “struggle,” is it only work and effort, or is it something carried out by chosen people? In all revolutions, the wounded of the revolution take their place on the final front. They are also often seen only as symbols of the revolution.
But in the struggle of the Kurdish people, especially within the PKK movement, the wounded of the revolution, that is, the veterans, have always become examples and models for the people, the comrades, and the struggle through their work and their lives.
One of these comrades is the companion Dilgeş.
Comrade Dilgeş was born in 1977 in the district of Çelê, which is connected to the city of Colemêrg. In his childhood, he was always a center of love and respect. Because of the condition of the people and the enemy’s domination, he decided in 1993 to join the movement, and within a short time he joined the guerrilla ranks in the Zagros region.
Yes, at the beginning of his youth, he joined the work and struggle with great strength and love. With his serious, self-sacrificing, and enthusiastic personality, he was always a center of love and respect in guerrilla life as well, and a source of true comradeship. He was himself a child of the Zagros. Every spring, like a snowdrop on the edges of the snows of Çarçela, he would raise his head and flourish. With his smile and his pleasant words, he could open everyone’s heart and fill the hearts of his comrades with the love of comradeship.
In the most difficult times, whether in actions or amid the hardships and difficulties of the Zagros nature, Zagros protected him like a child. For his love and affection always flowed like a spring on Mount Samora. Sometimes, like a hawk spreading its wings, he would soar and move against the enemies with great anger.
On a day when Mother Zagros had fallen into a sweet sleep, a treacherous mine remained awake. It was the year 1996. After several actions and injuries, this time only through treachery was it able to separate the child of the Zagros from the mountains, the struggle, and his comrades.
What in this world could be stronger than the power of love for the mountains, the struggle, and comradeship? As Leader APO says: what matters is not whether a person lives or does not live; what matters is that after leaving this world, one leaves a trace behind. Likewise, Leader APO says: veterans are living martyrs. On this basis, comrade Dilgeş once again turned his face toward the mountains, without making his amputated leg an obstacle for himself.
Everyone can express themselves through certain things. But through what does a veteran express himself? In response to this question, the struggle of comrade Dilgeş is the clearest example. He was an Apoist personality, self-sacrificing, a militant of the line, devoted to the Leadership and to his cause.
Yes, with this personality and determination, he built himself in his work, struggle, and life. Yes, a wounded person, with such a stance and struggle, can become a living martyr.
At a time when peace was knocking at the doors of the enemy, comrade Dilgeş had taken upon his shoulders the duty of protecting the people and the values of the struggle. But white doves always become victims of humanity’s hypocrisy. At the time when our movement, the KCK, had begun a period of inactivity, their inability to tolerate this became the reason for developing military operations. With all their strength and technology, they moved against the comrades.
On September 8, 2009, an operation began in the place where comrade Dilgeş was born. As comrade Dilgeş was bringing back before his eyes the memories of his childhood and the beginning of his participation, at 3:30 after midnight the enemy surrounded them from the ground and from the sky. But they did not know that they were fighting the son of Rostam-e Zal. Just as Alexander of Macedon bowed his head, they too would bow their heads and flee. After long clashes, comrade Dilgeş, together with seven of his comrades, fell like stars from the sky and flowed toward the island of the Sun.
