The guerrilla Cesûr Têkoşer, whose given name was Yûsûf Gulbay, originally came from the Kurdish and rebellious city of Colemêrg.
He belonged to the ancient Pinyanişî tribe. He was born into a Kurdish family. Because of his family’s patriotism, he absorbed the ancient culture of Kurdish identity while still a child. When he was still very young, the occupying Turkish state had many military bases built in his city and constantly imposed its occupation and rule upon the Kurdish people. This movement of Turkish occupation created great anger in the rebellious young Yûsûf. The occupation’s attacks on the Kurdish people’s nature, culture, identity, language, and political life drove Kurdish young people to seek a way out. The response and stance of the Kurdistan freedom guerrillas against these practices made a great impression on Yûsûf. With the strength and conviction he received from the guerrillas, Yûsûf wanted to do something for his people as well. He therefore took part in youth work. With tremendous effort, he carried out work to expose the occupying mentality of the Turkish state more widely. With his youthful spirit, enthusiasm, and excitement, Yûsûf achieved many effective results and brought about many valuable new participations. Yet he did not consider the work he was doing sufficient; in 2015, to stop the Turkish state’s occupation, he turned toward the home of heroes.
A HEARTFELT COMMITMENT AND A JOURNEY TOWARD TRUTH
After joining the guerrilla ranks, Yûsûf took the name Cesûr Têkoşer and transferred to the Avaşîn area to participate in basic guerrilla training. He maintained a high tempo during training. Cesûr came to know the reality of the enemy and the reality of Leader APO more deeply and took part in training with this awareness. In the training area, he was able to form relationships quickly and strengthen his communication. These qualities enabled him to adapt sooner and develop appropriate depth regarding the comradeship of the Apoist Movement. After completing his training successfully and effectively, he began his guerrilla march in Avaşîn. Step by step, he traveled through all the hills and valleys of Avaşîn. Its grandeur affected him profoundly, and for this reason he always wanted to struggle on Avaşîn’s summits.
Cesûr took part in the work with the strength he had gained from training and displayed great self-sacrifice. In 2016, the Turkish state launched a major operation in the Zagros. APO’s army presented unmatched resistance against the occupation operation. Those self-sacrificing young women and men turned the enemy’s calculations against it in Zap and made Zap a hell for them. Through their warfare and resistance, they displayed a historic stance and a will of steel. This resistance deeply affected the guerrilla Cesûr, and he too wanted to become one of Zap’s fighters. On this basis, in 2016 he turned toward the Zap battlefront.
HE BECOMES ONE WITH THE BATTLE OF ZAP
As soon as the guerrilla Cesûr arrived in Zap, he united himself with the practice of Zap. He took part in every task without hesitation; although he was still new, he developed himself militarily and ideologically and brought himself to the level of a specialized guerrilla.
In the history of Zap, the guerrillas routed the occupiers among those cliffs and crags and turned every inch of Zap’s soil into a graveyard for them. Cesûr, the modern-day Kawa, kindled the fire of victory in Zap together with his comrades; with every blow they struck against the enemy, the fires on the mountains shone still brighter. With the victory of freedom, they led the dance along the Zap mountain ranges and confirmed the glad tidings of liberation.
HE REACHES MARTYRDOM IN THE TEMPLE OF REVIVAL
The steel-hearted guerrilla Cesûr struggled without interruption in Zap and Avaşîn for seven years. Through his self-sacrifice and courage, he became an example in the heart of every comrade. In every area where he stayed, he participated in life and struggle without hesitation and built the stance of an Apoist militant within himself. In every step he took, every path he crossed, and every cliff and crag where he remained, he left the traces of revolution behind him; for that reason, his comrades in the cause took him as their example.
In 2022, as a result of a treacherous attack by the Turkish state, he reached martyrdom together with his two comrades Baran Kobanê and Mazlum Amed.
These three heroes of Kurdistan, like all the heroes of Kurdistan, will always be remembered in the hearts and memories of the Kurdish people and their comrades in struggle. Through their unparalleled struggle, they became symbols of true comradeship and the search for truth. Through their Zîlan-like stance, they will forever be torches of freedom in Kurdistan.
