Kurdistan People's Defence Forces

Everything compels us to become true comrades of the martyrs. It must never be forgotten that they are themselves the true values of resistance.

The martyrs of the cause of freedom represented the truest meaning of life and the greatest horizons reaching toward the heavens. If we live up to the values they secured and turn those values into a force of realization, we will be able to say that we can represent them.

When we look at the history of Kurdistan, we witness the love of many heroes: a love that has always remained alive in the roots of history and has kept itself forever alive in the hearts of those who follow in the lovers’ footsteps. As Leader APO expresses it, truth is love, and love is a free life. Thousands like Agit became seekers of truth and a free life. Those valiant people, who saw their youth, their beauty, and their existence in the existence of a people, sacrificed their lives without hesitation.

One of these heroes is the guerrilla Rênas Civyan, whose nom de guerre was Bedran Erîn. Bedran Erîn was born into a patriotic family in Gever. Like many cities of Northern Kurdistan, Gever is a city of values and has long walked alongside the Kurdish people’s cause of freedom. Bedran’s family also attached great importance to the cause of freedom and was devoted to its Kurdish identity. Because of these qualities in his family, Bedran became acquainted with the cause of freedom from childhood. For many Kurdish young people, such qualities became the foundation for knowing themselves and remaining committed to their values. Bedran was in conflict with the system, and his contradictions with it grew day by day. People living within the system are forced to spend their entire lives running after a morsel of bread. This reality defines the system’s exploitation. Through the philosophy of Leader APO, Bedran brought this truth and the truth of Kurdish identity more deeply into consciousness. This led him to be influenced by Leader APO’s ideas and to take them as his basis.

For a time, Bedran carried out youth work in his region. After a while he reached a decision, and in 2014 he joined the guerrilla ranks in the Colemêrg region. He took the name Rênas Civyan and made his first move. After receiving new-fighter training in the region where he joined, he transferred to Qendîl Province. There, too, he joined a training course named after Martyr Newal in order to develop his learning further. His dream was to return to the homeland as a capable, specialized guerrilla. All his dreams and wishes on this matter surged within him. His requests were accepted by the high command, and in 2015 he was assigned to the Serhed region.

When he reached the Serhed area, he wanted, with great anger, to advance against the enemy. Yet he understood that he would suffer a blow if he was unprepared. To take strong steps, he deepened his observation and understanding. He was always striving to avenge his comrades. To fulfill this wish, he trained and developed himself in every respect. The road was long, and he did not stop until he could regard himself as a worthy revolutionary. He pursued this depth and wanted to leave his mark on history at the level of the self-sacrificing militants. For that reason, in 2018 he entered the Special Forces organization and proposed carrying out a self-sacrificing action. His proposal was not accepted, but he inspired great confidence in his comrades. They knew how deeply he was committed to the cause of freedom. He remained in the North for a time, then returned to the Medya Defense Zones. There he received training, took part in many important efforts, and gave strength to those around him.

At the most critical stage, he once again turned toward Northern Kurdistan. On July 19, 2024, while attempting to cross into the North, he fought to the end in a clash on the Serhed border and joined the caravan of martyrs. Through his heroism, he became a pioneer and an example of courage for his comrades. With all his precious qualities and his devotion, he left great traces behind him. He was a true follower of the path and left an immortal legacy to those who would follow in his footsteps.
