Kurdistan People's Defence Forces

Rojhat Zelal is a young man from Botan, a young man whose heart beats for freedom. His heart is clear and pure.

His face is made of the radiance of the sun. In his struggle he made resistance his principle. He knows that against denial and destruction the only road is resistance. And that road passes through the mountains.

Those whose dreams are great can realize their dreams only by living greatly. By living greatly they can reach their aim. Rojhat Zelal too is a person of great dreams, because his goal and aim are great. He wants to walk in the footsteps of the martyrs so that he can realize their dreams. His eyes see nothing other than freedom. His love is freedom.

He Follows The Footsteps Of Martyr Zelal

Diljar Hazar, with his code name Rojhat Zelal, was born in the village of Bafe in the Hezex district of Sirnex, in a land that has always risen in history against enemies and oppression. He grew up in a patriotic family and environment. In 1998 his maternal aunt Zelal reached martyrdom in Botan. In his childhood, Rojhat too dreamed that one day he would grow up and follow in his maternal aunt's footsteps. He always grew up with the stories of the heroes of the Kurdish people. For this reason he came to know the freedom movement while still a child. At the same time, at a young age he witnessed the policies of denial and assimilation that the Turkish state carried out against the Kurdish people. The war in Rojava Kurdistan, and especially the resistance of Kobane, had a very great effect on him. Rojhat saw that victory cannot be achieved without struggle and resistance. He saw the mountains of Kurdistan as the safest trenches for himself.

Those mountains would witness another hero. The mountains would open their embrace to a young man from Botan. In 2014, in Botan, Rojhat Zelal turned his face toward the mountains of Kurdistan and joined the ranks of the freedom guerrilla.

He Makes The Mountains Of Botan His Mother

Rojhat Zelal received his basic training in Botan. In a short time he adapted to guerrilla life and began practice. He made the mountains of Botan his mother. He wanted to know every stone, every tree, every valley and spring of the Botan region. Among his comrades, Rojhat was known for his courage, his pure heart, and his honesty. At the same time, he was a humble militant.

To feel is to understand; and to understand is to be loaded with enthusiasm, excitement, and feeling, to be joyful and free. On the summits of the Botan mountains, Rojhat Zelal felt everything and became one with nature. He cast each step with excitement, each step with a great desire; in every step he thought of freedom and moved in that way. With every breath he drew, he took into himself the scent of freedom. He recognized no obstacle before him and continued his march of freedom.

The Martyrs Are The Greatest Guide For Him

Within the APOist movement, the only way for a person to reach his aim and goal is to educate himself and understand Leader APO. Rojhat, who made education a fundamental principle in every moment of his life, deepened himself in the philosophy of Leader APO. As he educated himself, he also taught the comrades beside him what he had learned.

For him, the martyrs are the greatest guide, and in order to avenge his martyred comrades he was always in a state of deep concentration. Rojhat Zelal constantly passed himself through questioning. In order to implement the principles, measures, and tactics of the guerrilla of Democratic Modernity without deficiency, he constantly educated himself. To strike heavy blows against his enemy, he developed himself tactically. In the Botan area he joined many actions, and with his actions he dealt heavy blows to his enemy.

As he moved through the Botan area, he knew that thousands of heroes had walked on this land. In order to keep the memory of those heroes alive on that land, he developed himself in every respect. Through his practice he showed his attachment to the martyrs, the land, the people, and his leader. He devoted everything he had to the struggle for this sacred land, for the freedom of his people, and for the freedom of his leader.

In His Eyes The Hope Of Freedom Falls Like Rain

His heart is like a volcano, always boiling; as it boils it becomes lava, it boils and sees no barrier before it. Through his attachment to comradeship he creates himself anew; this heart, the heart of his will, is made of steel. In his eyes the hope of freedom falls like rain. On his face the revenge of years appears. Whenever his eyes look deep and far, the future of a people appears in those glances. The brave guerrilla Rojhat Zelal always chose the most difficult thing. He knew that hardship and difficulty make people strong and allow them to stand on their own feet. For this reason, whatever difficult work there was, he offered himself for it. He always went with heart and soul to the task before him and carried it out successfully. The trust he had built allowed him to play a role in very important work. Rojhat Zelal became a successful militant in every task he took on.

His morale was always high, his enthusiasm high, and his excitement without limit. Every comrade who had lived a memory with him would never forget that memory. The strength he carried, his excitement for life, and the morale he gave to those around him always allowed him to take a place in the hearts of his comrades. As he learned new things, new beauties were added to him.

He Becomes The Hope Of The People Of Botan

He saw the geography of Botan as a mother for himself. The rich soil of Botan too acted as a mother to Rojhat from every side and protected him. He became the hope of the people of Botan.

In this sacred struggle, many heroes paid very heavy prices to win the rights of the Kurdish people, to become free human beings, and to build a society that would be respected. They sacrificed their lives. They poured their blood onto this land. This dry soil became green again with their blood and gave life.

Rojhat Zelal too is a Kurdistan freedom guerrilla who, with his blood, would not allow this land to become dry. Between June 8 and 11, 2018, in Botan, in the Besta area, the occupying Turkish state launched a broad occupation operation. In this operation the APOist militant Rojhat Zelal rose to his duty, and together with his comrades carried out an unparalleled resistance. Very heavy clashes took place in this area. During three days of clashes that continued under air attacks, many soldiers, including a captain and a special police officer, were punished. As a result of this heavy war, Rojhat Zelal and 8 of his comrades resisted until the last drop of their blood, struck heavy blows against the occupiers, and reached the rank of martyrdom.

He Released His Roots Into The Mountains

Rojhat Zelal was abundance in the rain, a sapling of freedom in the embrace of mother earth. He released his roots into the mountains. In the waters of Botan he became a spring that never dries. On the tongues of singers he became a song, on the lips of children an epic, and on the golden soil of Botan a legend. In his full four years of struggle, he adorned everything he had for the freedom of his people. He carried out struggle without stopping. In the heart of every comrade, in the heart of the people of Botan, he became the hero of the soil of his homeland.
