TO THE PRESS AND PUBLIC
On 17 May, the occupier forces of the Turkish state army launched a military operation, the village-guards also participated, on the border line district Uludere/Hakkari. As a part of operation, enemy forces attempted to hold on the Hill of Meymun, on the border line, and severe clashes occurred in between our guerrillas and the operational enemy forces, in between 17-20 May.
The military operation began on 17 May at 21:30 and 18 May at 04:30 with continues and intensive obus and mortar attacks on the Hills of Meymun and Kuruagac, the areas of Kato Sule, Deriye Dawetiye and the Betalma region. And, enemy forces have marched on three different wings.
In the afternoon hours of 18 May, two wings of the enemy had pull back as a result of resistancy of our guerrillas. While enemy forces carried their attack under the intensive air-bombardment of the cobra type helicopters, our guerrillas carried out an action against enemy.
Enemy forces re-attacked under the support of the cobra type helicopters, yet enemy forces and the cobra type helicopters couldn’t be able to reach to their targets as a result of guerrilla’s effective resistance with air-defence system.
Yet, on 18 May at 18:00 hour, enemy forces could be able to enter the Hill of Meymun. And, our guerrilla forces carried out 9 separate actions against these enemy forces. Also, a separate action carried out against enemys’ third wing, which was moving in between the Hills of Meymun and Sinek. While enemy forces took away corpses of thir killed and wounded soldiers by Sikorsky type helicopters, the area of clash and actions continued to be intensively bombarded with obus, mortar, tank and cobra helicopters.
On 19 May at around 08:30 hour, our guerrillas carried out another action against enemy forces on the Hill of Meymun. On the same day at 13:00 hour, another action carried out by our guerrillas against enemy forces on the Hill. Then, on 20 May at around 10:15 hour, our guerrillas carried out another action against both enemy forces on the Hill of Meymun and work-machine, which was trying to open a road to the Hill of Meymun.
As a result of intensive clashes of 3 days, we have clerified that more than 15 enemy soldiers killed, the total number of killed and wounded enemy soldiers are 33. While the military operation continues in the area, the clashes also continues time to time.
As a result of clashes occurred within three days, 1 guerrilla friend have been martryd and whereabout of another guerrilla not known. We will inform with more details the public as we clerify the information on these guerrilla friends.
